In August 2025, Macau saw a remarkable year-on-year increase of 15.5% in tourist arrivals, with figures hitting a historic peak of 4.22 million. This follows a 14.5% increase reported in the previous month. Same-day visitors surged by 25.1%, whereas those staying overnight experienced a modest rise of 3.4%. The average visitor stay from the previous year remained unchanged at 1.1 days; specifically, the length of stay for overnight visitors consistently held at 0.3 days, while same-day visitors continued to stay for an unchanged duration of 2.3 days. Analyzing the source markets, Mainland China contributed significantly to this growth, with arrivals up by 18.4% to 3.26 million, spurred by a 22.2% increase in travelers under the Individual Visit Scheme. Furthermore, arrivals from Hong Kong increased by 2.8% to 681,740, and visitors from Taiwan rose notably by 21.0% to 89,060. Over the first eight months of the year, total visitor numbers have climbed by 17.3%, reaching 190,360.
