04.11.202506:47:36UTC+00India Set to Resume Chinese Imports After 5-Year Freeze

India is signaling an improvement in its relationship with Beijing by planning to fast-track approvals for import proposals from domestic companies, according to the Economic Times. These proposals involve electronics components, footwear, household goods, steel items, raw materials, and other products sourced from China and various other nations. In the past, India had paused such import approvals due to tensions with China following border conflicts in early 2020. Officials have indicated that India is set to start issuing and renewing Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certifications for international manufacturing facilities to alleviate supply-chain disruptions caused by prolonged approval processes. "We are on the verge of issuing and renewing licenses for suppliers from multiple countries, including China," a senior government official informed the Economic Times.
