In September 2025, Brazil's industrial production experienced a 0.4% decrease from the previous month. This contraction was slightly less severe than the anticipated 0.5% downturn, following an adjusted 0.7% increase in August. Specifically, the output from extractive industries fell by 1.6%, while the manufacturing sector remained unchanged. Notably, there were significant reductions in the production of pharmaceuticals, which declined by 9.7%, and motor vehicles, which decreased by 3.5%. In contrast, production rose in the food industry by 1.9%, tobacco by 19.5%, and wood products by 5.5%. Examining the categories, durable consumer goods saw the most significant drop at 1.4%, followed by intermediate goods with a 0.4% decline, and consumer goods slipping by 0.1%. However, the output of capital goods saw a slight increase of 0.1%. On an annual basis, the industrial production expanded by 2.0%, after a revised 0.7% growth in August.
